Legislation that Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan hopes will keep 20,000 Detroit residents from losing their homes to tax foreclosure made it out of the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday. HB 4882 would allow delinquent taxpayers to pay a foreclosing government agency in an installment plan and waive additional interest if the owner did not complete the payment plan. Comment?

Police in three Oakland County communities cooperated to track down and arrest a pair of suspects accused of stealing credit cards during several metro area Realtor open houses from June to October. Charles William Frazier, 39, and Durand Laurent Micheau, 44, both of Detroit, were arraigned in Troy's 52-4 District Court on charges related to thefts at house showings in 15 communities in three counties, the Troy Police Department said in a news release. By Treasury Secretary Jack Lew's reckoning, being a millionaire does not constitute living high above the ranks of ordinary people.
