This year may mark its 150th anniversary, but 2014 has proven to be a significant period for First Tennessee Bank for reasons beyond the celebration of a milestone birthday. In contrast to the doldrums of the lean years, when the bank jettisoned its national mortgage operation, reverted to its core businesses and scaled down its headcount, the Memphis-based bank has spent much of this year doing the opposite.
