Fitch Ratings warns that Texas has the most overvalued home prices in the country and that a correction may be coming thanks to falling oil prices. "After largely skirting the excesses and downsides of the last housing boom, significant recent growth has made Fitch cautious on the Texas housing market," the New York-based financial analyst says in a just released report. The economy and housing market in Texas has out-performed the rest of the U.S. and was resilient going through the prior recession. The extremely sharp decline in oil prices in recent months brings this performance into question but there are reasons to believe Texas will prove resilient again. Comment?

I am a believer in dreams, and when I had a waking dream a few days after the S&P downgrade of our national debt of President Obama packing his bags and leaving the White House, I was saddened for him and for my country. A second national research organization has deemed that residential real estate prices in Austin are the most overvalued in the country. In its Sustainable Housing Home Price Report for the fourth quarter, FitchRatings - a financial information services company - concludes that Austin home prices are 20 percent overvalued, the highest in the nation. Colorado's Attorney General John Suthers has sued two more law firms in the state for fraud, accusing them of inflating foreclosure costs charged to homeowners, his office said. As part of an ongoing investigation, Suthers has filed eight civil law enforcement actions against Colorado foreclosure law firms in 2014, five of which resulted in settlements totaling nearly $12 million.
