MONTPELIER >> Vermont lawmakers looking to raise $35 million in new revenue to help close a budget gap are proposing to raise part of that money by putting a new cap on the itemized deductions taken by some income tax filers. But many of Vermont's charitable and nonprofit groups are hoping the deduction cap passed by the House this past week can be reversed in the Senate. Comment?

There are plenty of reasons for parents and kids to love school choice in the 90 plus Vermont towns that already have it, and there are plenty of solid educational and social arguments for expanding the program to all Vermont towns. But why should folks without kids care? Property values. Comment?

If any proof is needed that the great recession is a thing of the past for most Coloradans, just look at the foreclosure numbers released Tuesday by the Colorado Division of Housing. Reporting on the numbers, Inside Real Estate News noted foreclosure filings dropped 25.2 percent, to 9,263, in a dozen major counties in Colorado last year. Comment?
