Sales of new and existing homes in the Lehigh Valley dropped by 2.1 percent, to 6,585 in 2014, compared with 6,727 in 2013, according to a report released Wednesday by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach's HomExpert Market Report. The rough beginning to 2014 led to the flat overall sales, said Brad Patt, senior vice president and region manager with Berkshire Hathaway. Comment?

More sales but lower prices characterized the suburban real estate market in 2015's first quarter, as the Philadelphia region continued to extricate itself from the housing downturn. An analysis by economist Kevin Gillen of data provided by Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Fox & Roach Realtors showed that the typical suburban house sold fell in value by 1.8 percent in the first quarter compared with the fourth quarter.
