A tide of 260 thousand cusecs of flood water was passing through Guddu Barrage on Monday morning and the water level was rising. Floodwater from Panjnad was expected to reach Guddu Barrage in the next 24 hours, Radio Pakistan reported.
The raging waters posed a threat to Multan, as the peak high flood in River Chenab crossed through Trimu Headworks in Jhang on Friday. Multan region has become the focus of relief and rescue operations and over 1,100 boats and 16 helicopters were being used to evacuate people from Jhang, Multan and Muzaffargarh districts.
KARACHI: In order to face possible flood conditions in Sindh, necessary measures to protect life and property of the people are being taken on an emergency basis. Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah inspecting Ulra-Jagir Protective Bund at Kingri taluka of district Khairpur said efforts were being made to protect people and their cattle in the katcha areas.
