National Young Martyrs' Day every 20th of September proposed

A lawmaker has formally proposed to declare the 20th of every September as National Young Martyrs' Day to commemorate the martyrdom of the youth who offered their lives for national liberation and social change. Rep. Terry L. Ridon filed House Bill 4755 also known as the Young Martyrs' Day Act of 2014, seeking to remember the martyrdom of the youth who, beyond mere words, took the initiative and made their ultimate sacrifice.

Measles/polio immunization: Missing target...

DAVAO City is barely hitting its target to immunize children zero to five years old from measles and polio under the nationwide LigtassaTigdas at Polio Mass Immunization Campaign, lagging behind its provincial counterparts in the region. "As of 12 noon today , sa kailangan gabutin na 95-100 percent coverage the Region of more or less 600,000 ka-bata, around 200,000 in Davao City, ang sa atin, 32% pa lang, that is very low," said Department of Health 11 senior health program officer Divene Hilario during last Friday's Health Forum organized by the Philippine Press Institute and the Coca-Cola Femsa.

Group to gather cacao stakeholders

THE Cacao Industry Council of Southern Mindanao will call for a national convergence to be participated by concerned government agencies and key cacao industry players. I do not know if it can qualify for the Guinness Book of World Records but it really is a real long line of desperate drivers with fuel burning engines just doing nothing but stand in line to access the Port of Manila. I guess this is the effect of the restrictions imposed by the City of Manila to all trucks traversing their territory.

NPA sets condition for release of two soldiers

In a statement released by NPA North Central Mindanao Region on Monday, the group demanded for a suspension of military and police operations from midnight of September 10 up to midnight of September 20 covering Claveria, Balingasag, and Gingoog City of Misamis Oriental, as well as the municipalities of San Fernando, Cabanglasan, Impasug-ong, Malitbog and Malaybalay City of Bukidnon. The rebels are calling the military and police to adhere to their demand to facilitate the safe release of Pfc.
