Lawmaker asks police to probe teen's death

VALENZUELA City Representative Sherwin Gatchalian called on the Philippine National Police-Western Visayas on Wednesday to thoroughly investigate the death of a 15-year-old high school student allegedly due to hazing. John Kurt Inventor, a third year student of the Abkasa National High School in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, died two days after he allegedly underwent fraternity initiation rites.

Talisay cops now handling - frat hazing' case

THE Bacolod City Police Office endorsed on Monday to the Talisay City Police Station the investigation on the alleged hazing incident that resulted in the death of a 15-year-old student of Abkasa National High School in Barangay Mandalagan. Senior Superintendent Pedrito Escarilla, officer-in-charge of BCPO, said initial investigation revealed that the alleged hazing incident transpired in a dam in Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City initiated by a certain "Puda."

P20-B airport expansion project approved

THE Department of Transportation and Communication has approved the P20-billion project for the expansion of the terminal and apron and the extension of the runway of the Bacolod-Silay Airport. Bacolod City Representative Evelio Leonardia said Thursday the project will be implemented by the DOTC under an Operate-Add-Transfer scheme with the private sector.

All set for inauguration of new river port

SENATE President Franklin Drilon, to be assisted by Philippine Ports Authority General Manager Juan Sta Ana, will lead in the inauguration and blessing of the P230-million new river port complex in Lapuz area along the Iloilo River on Friday, September 5. To be managed by the PPA, the P230-million project will cater to the needs of fast-crafts going to Bacolod City and back, as well as the roll-on-roll-off vessels going to Manila, Cagayancillo and Palawan.
