Geez! This is terrible I hope they can get the money to get their dog back. Alot of vets allow payment plans. And to put a young healthy dog to sleep that is a Crime!! Shame on that Vet no compassion if he allows this dog to be put down without trying to find her a home. I sure would be putting public notice out about this Vet's office. I hope the Smiths can get their dog back here very sad story.

To give you an idea of the amount of money people stiff their vets, mine had deliquent charges from pet owner in the high 5 figures. That's a lot of money to not be paid for services rendered. They changed their practice to pay no, later is not acceptable. Can't say I blame them. Only a very few who are regular clients and rescuers are allowed to charge in house now. When the flip side of the coin is told people understand better. Don't blame this on the vet. It is the owners that are suppose to be responsible for said payment. The vet has bills (and lots of them) to pay also. |

1 This is horrible. It is just $200. Not enough to hold someones dog and I think she should get a lawyer and sue them. NOT all vets are good vets! |

Well it's not you loosing the money, it's the vet and he is entitled to what is owed him. Just because he wants what is due him does NOT make him a bad vet!!!!!! BTW the judge would wind up telling the owners not only do they have to pay the vet but to pay him back for all court costs involved. Get with it! |

Anon I agee with you. Any Vet who would put down a perfectly healthy dog is not a good Vet. I hope a rescue can save this dogs life. There are alot of good rescues and vets who are not in it for the almighty dollarbill. A life means more to some people than a buck. |

Oh my, such a horrible vet demanding payments for services rendered! Get him! Hang him from the highest tree!
Never mind the fact that the woman owned a dog she OBVIOUSLY couldn't afford to care for...it's ALL the vet's fault. On a fixed income she couldn't afford a $200 vet bill? If she couldn't afford it, she could have taken the dog home. It was HER choice to leave it there KNOWING she couldn't pay. She could have found a vet that would accept payments! Or, how about actually sending money to the vet over the last month instead of telling the media you "would" do payments? How about all of you people screaming about the vet go out and do YOUR job for FREE. What's that you say? You can't because you have bills to pay? Huh. I think the vet does too. God I am so sick and tired of this entitlement BS people in this country seem to have. She used a service, she should pay for it. End of story. If you want to blame anyone for the upcoming death of the dog, blame the owner.(Oh, but I'm sure someone is going to the pay the bill so she can get her dog back...no lesson learned.) |

Bingo! Let bullied go do work for someone and then have them tell him/her that they aren't getting paid!!! Can't afford said pet don't have one. Truely don't think the vet will euthanize the dog but is using that more as a tactic to get them to pay. Yes these people did have choices. The owner should think hard about the future if she has her dog returned to her. How about she puts some money aside every week in case this ever happens again. |

She has the dog back. It was $200 NOT A MILLION. I'm sure MOST vets would work out a payment plan. I think the vet should have a little more compassion.

Do you know anything about Parvo? YOu idiot. If they aren't treated within 24 hrs. they will die. Someone I know had a dog that almost died. She was shooting out blood from both ends. What a horrible death. People please have your dogs vaccinated! |

Oh I'm well aware of parvo, having spent several years working as a vet tech.
Which raises the point, once again, about how this woman obviously can't afford her dog. Did the dog have it's series of shots that would have protected it from parvo? Most likely not. It is possible for a dog to get parvo, even when vaccinated, but it's usually due to the vaccine being handled improperly during shipping. The odds of every one of the shots in the series being messed up? EXTREMELY rare. This woman obviously saved her pennies to buy the purebred dog in the first place. It's sickening to me that people worry about the PRICE of the dog before they consider the cost of CARE. So this woman has her dog back, a vet had it's reputation damaged by a dead beat, and I'd be willing to bet someone else paid the vet...or the vet forgave the debt to avoid the negative publicity. What is the moral of this story? That you can get what you want for free if you scream loudly enough. Great lesson... |

Hey! I ran up a $500 debt on my credit card when my dog was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I can't afford to pay it. Which media outlet will vilify the horrible credit card company enough to get some poor sap to pay it for me?
(Um, that's sarcasm...Though I did run up a debt for my dog's treatment...and I paid it.) |
