Mont. BASE jumper plunges to his death

A Montana hiker reported as missing after he set out alone to perform a BASE jump in Glacier National Park over the weekend has been found dead below the summit of Mount Siyeh, authorities said on Monday. Authorities identified the man as 22-year-old Beau Weiher of Missoula, who was reported missing by family and friends on Saturday night after he failed to return as expected from his outing.

Friends complete skydive to raise funds for charity

Two friends decided they wanted to do something a bit different for charity last month and a skydive seemed the obvious choice. Laura Pearson, 34, from Coldwaltham, and Hannah Bishop, 19,from Amberley, completed the 10,000ft jump last month and loved it so much they both want to do it again.

Throughout the week, marine rescue training will also take place on Lake Melville around Rabbit Island and Sandy Point area.

Skydiving death ruled an accident

The medical examiner has ruled accidental the death of a skydiver of multiple, blunt trauma at the Pepperell Skydive Center on Aug. 17. The finding means that the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office has closed the case, said spokesman David Wallace on Sept. 9. "Everyone at Pepperell was very saddened at the loss of a friend," said Carolyn Goldman, chief instructor and safety and training advisor at Pepperell Skydive.
