It is only the second time America has hosted the World Championships and the stunning setting at Deep Creek is far from the madding crowds of an Olympic Games, yet 20,000 spectators are expected to make their way to the Adventure Sports Centre International in McHenry for the four days of competition which begin on Thursday.

Minnesota Canoers Paddle 2,000 Miles to Advocate for Clean Water

It's been 50 years since the Wilderness Act was signed into law to protect natural areas not yet developed across the United States, and today, a Minnesota couple says this anniversary is just one reason they're taking a nearly 2,000 mile canoe trip across the country to Washington D.C. "We don't feel that it can be done safely, and we don't feel the edge of the Boundary Waters, the most popular wilderness area in the country, is an appropriate location for what the EPA calls the nation's most polluting industry," Dave Freeman said.
