    Former Strand-Capitol leader dies at 77

    Clyde Lindsley, a former executive director of the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center who helped to bring big name artists such as Jay Leno and Bernadette Peters to York, died Nov. 11 in Olney, Md. "Clyde really gave us some inroads," said Delaine Toerper, who was on the board of Strand-Capitol during Lindsley's tenure.

    Dad who sang to dying infant son thanks mourners

    A grieving father who sang the Beatles' ballad "Blackbird" as his infant son clung to life told mourners Saturday that he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers and support after a video of the tender moment gained widespread Internet attention. Chris Picco told mourners at a memorial service for his wife, Ashley, and their son, Lennon, that he didn't have enough words to express his gratitude to those who reached out to him, including strangers apparently touched by his story.

    DuPont plant has some environmental violations

    Records show dozens of minor or moderate state environmental violations over the past five years at a Houston-area chemical plant where four people died from toxic fumes this weekend. Texas Commission on Environmental Quality records for the DuPont plant in La Porte list multiple incidents since 2009, but it has received a satisfactory rating from the state and holds more than 150 environmental permits.

    Magliozzi, who hosted the hugely popular public radio show with his brother, died Nov. 3. After his death, New York-based King Features Syndicate said the brothers' newspaper column would continue to be bylined by both Tom and Ray Magliozzi. Newspaper editors nationwide promptly threatened to cancel the "Click and Clack" column.
