    Vancouver police kill man carrying replica gun

    Vancouver, Washington, police officers responding to a report of a fire and domestic disturbance at an apartment complex fatally shot a man who they say refused to drop what appeared to be an AR-15 style weapon. Police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said Wednesday that the gun was later determined to be a replica.

    Van Cleve's energy, loving service celebrated

    In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Van Cleve to the Hazel Dell Youth Party or to Boys & Girls Clubs of Vancouver . During a celebration honoring the life of Bud Van Cleve on Saturday, one of his daughters said Van Cleve would be greeted in heaven by friends and family members who loved him.

    Jean Mavis Coleman, 94, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Beverly, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at Manor Care Skilled Nursing in Vancouver. She had been the head librarian at the Beverly Library for 21 years, and was a former council member for the Village of Beverly.

    Bud Van Cleve, an inexhaustible community activist whose efforts over the last couple of decades earned him the nickname "Mayor of Hazel Dell," died on Nov. 5 at age 84. Despite declining health for the last few years, the man of a million meetings was still attending them regularly, according to his wife of 44 years. Sherry Van Cleve said Bud's death from a hemorrhagic stroke was "totally unexpected.

    Kuni vice president Herman dies at 72

    Joseph C. Herman, executive vice president of Vancouver-based Kuni Automotive Group, died Wednesday following a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 72. Herman joined Kuni in 2010 as its chief operating officer and helped double company revenue from under $500 million to more than $1 billion annually.
