    James F. Edwards, Sr.

    AHKWESAHSNE – After a lengthy illness, Mr. James F. Edwards, Sr., 79, Snipe Clan, known to many as “Sonny” of 76 Solomon Road, entered the Spirit World on Monday afternoon, March 23, 2015 at his home with his loving wife and children by his side. Sonny was born February 10, 1936 in Syracuse, the son of the late Elmer James and Hattie Terrance Edwards and attended schools in Ahkwesahsne.

    The funeral for Trooper Donald R. Fredenburg Jr., who collapsed and died during a training run, was held in Utica this morning. The funeral at Church of Our Lady of Lourdes began at 11 a.m. He was buried with full state police and U.S. Marine Corps honors, the Utica Observer-Dispatch reported.

    A Utica man who is a New York State trooper assigned to the Police Academy for Basic School Training died Friday in Albany during a physical training run. Trooper Donald R. Fredenburg, 23, was about a quarter-mile into his morning run around the UAlbany campus when he collapsed Friday.

    Several Onondaga County agencies are sending officers and deputies to services for a New York State trooper who died suddenly last week. Sgt. John Toomey, who heads the Syracuse Police Department's ceremonial unit, said details are still being finalized, but the department plans to send officers to the calling hours and funeral for Trooper Donald R. Fredenburg.
