    Gadsden Public Library receives James Hood papers, b...

    James A. Hood died two years ago, but the Gadsden Public Library hopes to bring new life to his story and his role in history through the books and papers he left behind. Craig Scott , director of Adult Services at the library, got a call from Hood's sister a few months ago asking if the library would be interested in her brother's books and papers.

    Tuscaloosa city councilman Burrell Odom dies at 62

    Council meetings for Tuesday have been canceled and the city of Tuscaloosa's flags will be flown at half-mast until Odom's funeral. "I am shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of beloved councilman Burrell Odom," Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox said Monday in a statement on the city's website.
