    Mayor Notte is laid to rest

    Hundreds of colleagues, friends, residents and more gathered for a noon funeral Mass Nov. 3 for the recently departed mayor of Sterling Heights, Richard Notte. At the beginning of the funeral, held at St. Blase Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, three speakers who knew Notte from a regional, work and family perspective shared some of their most memorable stories of the mayor.

    City remembers Mayor Notte

    Mayor Richard J. Notte, Sterling Heights' longtime mayor with a record of public service exceeding three decades, passed away the morning of Oct. 28, according to city officials. Notte, who died at age 76, had recently taken a medical leave of absence while serving his 11th term as mayor, a role he had held since 1993.
