Jacob left his earthly family to join the Lord after a lifetime of beating the odds of two birth defects, to the amazement and pleasure of medical professionals, family members and all who knew him. Through it all, he seldom complained, and almost always had an infectious smile that made you realize every day is a gift.

    History comes to life at The Castle

    Rufus R. Dawes was the "guest of honor" during the Victorian Wake and Funeral Tour at The Castle museum in Marietta on Sunday. Dawes was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Iron Brigade during the Civil War, where he participated in several clashes between North and South, including the battles of Gettysburg, Antietam, and the "Bloody Angle" in Spotsylvania, Va.
