    Hank Hulter of San Rafael dies at 107

    Hank Hulter smiles during a party for his 106th birthday at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center in San Rafael in 2013. Henry "Hank" Hulter, known for regularly exercising at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center, died in his sleep at his San Rafael home on Jan. 16. He was 107.

    Vincent Patrick "Deke" Welch was a gentleman and a scholar, a Republican patriot equally at home fishing San Pablo Bay in his canoe, translating Greek or Russian verse at his desk or lecturing public officials about the pitfalls of liberal civic policies. Mr. Welch, the conservative, proud patriarch of a family of 10 children and 22 grandchildren, died Jan. 7 at home in San Rafael.

    Ted O'Connell

    The Marin music community was shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of Ted O'Connell of San Anselmo, a guitarist with the popular Treble Makers band. Mr. O'Connell's body was found in his bed on Saturday, hours before the Treble Makers were to play their regular Saturday morning gig for the bicycle and breakfast crowd at Marin Coffee Roasters in San Anselmo.

    Dolly Nave, 'Angel of Albert Park,' dies at 83

    Dolores "Dolly" Nave, affectionately known as "the Angel of Albert Park" for her tireless volunteer work at the San Rafael ball field, died of a heart attack in her sleep at her San Rafael home on Dec. 23. She was 83. The mother of eight, Mrs. Nave was one of the first women inducted into the Marin County High School Hall of Fame in 1992 for her contributions to prep athletics. A volunteer at Albert Park for 35 years, she is credited with spearheading campaigns for upgrades and renovations that included everything from a new press box, PA system and stadium roof to automatic irrigation systems, handicap restrooms, a repaved parking lot and resurfaced tennis courts.

    Susanne Gresham

    Susanne Gresham, born Dec. 10, 1944, and a resident of Cheney from 1980-2005, succumbed to pancreatic cancer Dec. 10, 2014 on her 70th birthday and after an eight-month struggle. Susanne was the first of three daughters born to Leon Bishop and Sue Bishop of Prosser, Wash.
