    Raised in Springfield, he served in the Navy in World War II, graduated from Colgate University in 1950, and later earned an M.A. from New York University in 1963. After moving to New York City, he worked as a representative for the National Concert & Artists Corp. - Sol Hurok Management, as an agent for the William Morris Agency, and as personal assistant to the actor-producer Maurice Evans, before joining the play-publishing and -licensing company Dramatists Play Service in 1960, where he served as president, becoming a friend and mentor to many emerging playwrights as well as adapting numerous works for the stage himself.

    Memorial Day weekend events kick off unofficial star...

    Most residents will spend Memorial Day weekend having some summer fun and remembering servicemen and women who died for their country. Water quality at state parks and beaches has been tested, and all swimming facilities in state parks will open for the season on Saturday, said Lori Hawksley of the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection .

    John L Behling aka "Jack", passed away at 94 years of age on Wednesday, May 13, with family by his side. His loves included his vibrant gardens, artwork, writing his final book on history and events in the Middle East, his beloved wife Mary Jane, and his family each of whom he was so proud.

    Francine Elizabeth Arndt, 80, Of Norwalk

    Francine Elizabeth Arndt, of Norwalk, died peacefully at home with her family at her side on Saturday, April 18. She was 80. Arndt was born in Redding to Alban and Mary Isabel Melanson. She worked at Perkin Elmer, received her nursing degree, and became a dietary nutritionist at Nutri-System.
