    Marin Women's Hall of Fame member Rembert “Remmy” Kingsley, one of the first people in the county to become involved with the peace and environmental movements, died Feb. 5 at her Ross home. She was 92. Mrs. Kingsley was born March 9, 1922, in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of a Navy pilot.

    Funeral for Former CCFD Chief Baynes is Tuesday

    Friends, family and former colleagues of Andrew J. Baynes will gather to remember and lay to rest the former fire chief, college professor and U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Baynes, 65, died unexpectedly while in Florida on Feb. 17 and he leaves behind his wife, Anne Baynes, to whom he was happily married for 40 years.

    Scores of law enforcement officials from Massachusetts and Rhode Island formed a blue honor guard for the transfer of injured Bourne police Officer Jared MacDonald from Providence to a rehabilitation hospital in Boston on Wednesday morning. MacDonald, 44, who was shot in the back while responding to a deadly home invasion in Bourne on Feb. 5, made the trip from Rhode Island Hospital to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital at 10 a.m., according to a Facebook page set up in his honor.
