Homicide has been ruled out as a cause of death in the case of a man who died last week after he was found lying on a sidewalk in Petaluma, police said. Michael Lee Patton, 60, was found around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 lying facedown on a sidewalk near the intersection of B Street and Petaluma Boulevard and was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later, according to police. Bill Kortum, a longtime Sonoma County environmental activist, died early Saturday in Petaluma after battling prostate cancer for more than three years. He was 87. Mr. Kortum's extensive resume as an activist began in the 1960s and lists many of California's most important land-use campaigns. Comment?
