    Ocala Double Homicide Suspect Dies in Local Hospital

    The suspect in a double homicide in Ocala, Ricardo De Jesus Barrera, died Tuesday night at a local hospital, according to the City of Ocala Police Department. Authorities believe Barrera shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Bonnie Motto, and her mother, Julia Motto, on Monday, October 20. The bodies of the two victims were found at Springwood Village Apartments in Ocala.

    Boston fire leaves 1 dead, about 30 homeless

    Authorities say a five-alarm fire has raced through an apartment building in Boston, killing one man and leaving about 30 people homeless. Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve McDonald said on Saturday that firefighters recovered the body of the victim while battling the blaze that began late Friday night.

    Motorist killed in South Avenue crash identified

    CORNING >> The motorist killed Thursday after striking a walnut tree on South Avenue east of Corning has been identified as 38-year-old Kristine Stout-Imergoot. About 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Stout-Imergoot was traveling east on South Avenue and, for an unknown reason, crossed into the westbound lane, went off the road and slammed head-on into a tree near Stephens Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

    Kimberly Durham of the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation says the whale was spotted Thursday morning at Smith Point County Park beach in Shirley. Durham says a forensic examination is being conducted to determine a cause of death.

But Steven Campora, a lawyer for the family of a boy killed at Lassen Park in 2009, said Koontz is retiring because of a U.S. Department of the Interior investigation into allegations of perjury and destroying evidence following the boy's death.
