Authorities charged a man with murder for allegedly stabbing and beating his own mother to death and trying to run over his brother with a car Wednesday evening in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side. Wojceich Sadelski, 26, was charged with one felony count of first-degree murder, one felony count of aggravated battery and use of deadly weapon as well as two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department. Just after midnight, officers responding to a call of shots fired found the man unresponsive on the sidewalk in the 14800 block of Kimbark in Dolton, according to a statement from Dolton police. Demetrius Southerland, of the 0-100 block of East 101st Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. A 1-year-old girl died Friday evening after she was accidentally run over by her grandmother's minivan in her driveway in south suburban Midlothian. Aubrie Licea's grandmother was backing out of the driveway in the 14300 block of South Waverly Avenue in her 2004 Mercury Monterey when she ran over the toddler, according to Midlothian police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. A man died Saturday afternoon, two days after he was charged with DUI for a South Side crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway, police said. About 3:30 a.m. Thursday, 40-year-old Demetrius Pope was driving southbound on I-90/94 near 87th Street when his car swerved and struck the front passenger side of another vehicle, according to Illinois State Police.
