    Vietnam War Navy veteran John Waggoner of Preston salutes during the playing of taps during a Sunday memorial ceremony held outside the Preston Public Library in remembrance of the 70th anniversary of the 1944 crash of two World War II fighter planes and the deaths of their pilots. The planes took off from the Charlestown Naval Auxiliary Air Field in Rhode Island for a training exercise and collided in the skies over the Norwich-Preston line.

    Man dies in scooter accident in Norwich

    A 55-year-old man riding a scooter died Wednesday night after police said he left the roadway and struck a tree in the area of Vergason Avenue. The man's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, police said.

    Elizabeth S. Bennett, 88, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, October 5, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born April 14, 1926, in Gloversville, she was a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Eugenia Dotha Stewart Loveland.

    Rios sentenced to 14 years for manslaughter in death...

    A New London judge sentenced Michael A. Rios to 14 years in prison this morning for shaking to death his girlfriend's 13-month-old daughter, Madison Alexa Reid, on May 2, 2013. The victim's family members, many of them dressed in neon pink t-shirts that said "Madison Matters," held up photographs depicting the bubbly child's short life during an emotional sentencing hearing in Superior Court.

    Rios sentenced to 14 years for manslaughter in death...

    A New London judge sentenced Michael A. Rios to 14 years in prison Monday in connection with the shaking death of his girlfriend's 13-month-old daughter, Madison Alexa Reid, in May of 2013 in Norwich. The victim's relatives, many of them dressed in neon pink T-shirts that said "Madison Matters," held up photographs depicting the bubbly toddler's short life during an emotional sentencing hearing in Superior Court.
