    The man gunned down earlier this week in a New Bern housing complex will be laid to rest this weekend. Covair Frost was shot around 7:10 a.m. Monday at Trent Court.

    Alan E. Ley, 63, of North Vernon, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Mr. Ley is survived by his parents, Robert and Mary Ebbing Ley of North Vernon; a son, Michael Ley of Columbus; a sister, Susan Tally of New Bern, North Carolina; and three grandchildren.

    Frederick Lowell "Dick" Reed, 75, of Ravenswood, W.Va., passed away on April 22, 2015, at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born Nov. 25, 1939, in Sherman, W.Va., a son of the late Harman and Nellie Lambert Reed.

    The New Bern Police Department has announced several events Saturday to be held in memorial on the death of Officer Alexander Thalmann, who was gunned down in the line of duty a year ago. Stallings also wounded Officer Justin W. Wester in the firefight before being shot dead by Wester.

    New Bern police to honor officer killed in the line ...

    The New Bern Police Department announced plans to honor fallen officer, Alexander Thalmann, who was shot and killed in the line of duty 1 year ago. Police said the 22-year-old was shot while pursuing a suspect at Craven Terrace apartments the night of March 28. Thalmann died a few days later on March 31 at Vidant Medical Center from his injuries.
