    A Korean War veteran died in a weekend car crash a day after returning to Lubbock from the "trip of a lifetime." O.C. "Bo" Blankenship Jr. died in a crash Saturday on U.S. 84 near Snyder after participating in the South Plains Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., said Lou Ortiz, chairman of the Texas South Plains Honor Flight.

    His "sister," Rosaline Hightower, died in her sleep on Jan. 4, only a few days after Texas Tech returned from upsetting Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl. Hightower, who helped raise him after his birth mother died when he was less than a year old, was 45. "She used to always wake up before me and when I would wake up and see a text from my sister on the phone ... I could start my day," Smith said.

    The Lubbock County Medical Examiner's Office has released a full autopsy report shedding further light on the death of an incoming Texas Tech freshman. According to the report, 18-year-old Dalton Debrick died with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.324 - more than four times the legal limit to drive.

    Allison Firefly: Band's name a tribute to Donnie All...

    Before the local rock band Allison Firefly was about to take flight, a vital part of the Lubbock music community died. Don "Donnie" Allison, who made many a performance at the Cactus Theater, was also a member of The Nelsons, performed at a Lubbock blues club called Belly's and cast a large shadow of influence over the community with his music.

    CHARLIE F. WARE, 90 Ware Pianos LAKELAND - Charlie F. Ware, age 90, died Friday, September 19th, 2014, due to natural causes. He was born in Fisher County, Texas, on May 19th, 1924, and moved to Lakeland in 1962.

    UMC: Rollover victim dies of his injuries

    University Medical Center officials have confirmed that a man involved in a rollover wreck in South Lubbock has died of his injuries. UMC confirms that 23-year-old Jared Thomas died Thursday night.
