    Buffalo Grove police dog dies of cancer

    The Daily Herald reports that Saxon, who retired from the force last week after his diagnosis from cancer, died on Monday. Department officials say over the past four years, Saxon helped the department seize more than 460 kilograms of marijuana, $250,000 of drug money and assisted in 500 drug arrests.

    A northwest suburban police dog who retired from service less than two weeks ago after cancer surgery has died, the police department announced Wednesday. Saxon, who was five years old, had recently retired from the Buffalo Grove Police Dept.

    Buffalo Grove police canine Saxon has died after a brief battle with cancer. Saxon, a 5-year-old German Shepherd, was retired from the force last week after surgery to remove his spleen, where a tumor had grown and ruptured.
