    Roger Dale Kidd, age 53, of Knoxville, Tenn., went to be with the Lord, Monday Jan. 12, 2015, surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer. His memory will be cherished by children, Krisden and Justin; sisters, Tammy and Angie; aunts, Darlene and Diane; uncles, Ronnie, Danny, Wayne and Sammy; close cousins, Ronnie and Billy; brother-in-law, Scott; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friend, Kenny Fuller.

    Former Vol back Slack dies at 86

    Thomas Joseph Slack, who played blocking back under Gen. Robert R. Neyland at the University of Tennessee in 1947 and 1948, died Wednesday morning at the Ben Atchley State Veterans' Home in Knoxville at age 86. According to family members, he possessed "a quiet and strong faith that shone forth vividly in the love, interest, and time he gave to others."
