    Funeral for Jersey City mom of 2 killed in NYC crash...

    The wake and funeral for the Jersey City mother of two who was killed Sunday in a fatal crash in New York City are set for Monday, according to the funeral home organizing the services. The wake will take place at the BPDC International House of Praise at 1755 Watson Ave. in the Bronx from 4 to 7 p.m., with the funeral afterward, according to the T. Carrillo Funeral Home.

    Deborah A. Carlsen of North Arlington dies at age 54

    Mrs. Carlsen was dear wife of Charles Carlsen, beloved mother of Keith Carlsen, loving sister of Diane Sherman, Theresa Fiore, Denise Curran and the late Joseph Iorio, and dear friend of Robert Turner. Family and friends will be received Friday, May 29, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Rd., Lyndhurst.

    Jersey City cemetery marks Memorial Day with special...

    Paying their respects to fallen and active soldiers, more than 350 people participated yesterday morning in a Mass at Holy Name Cemetery on West Side Avenue where the bodies of more than 300 soldiers have been laid to rest. Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Donato of the Archdiocese of Newark referred to soldiers who died with "great trauma and suffering" and those who passed away from natural causes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet ; a son, Kevin; a brother, Joseph; and three sisters: Elizabeth Wilt, Santina Glass and Alice Affleck.

All 39 Jersey City police officers who have been killed in the line of duty over the years were honored during the 2015 Police Unity Tour bike ride, a 300-mile ride from Ground Zero to Washington, D.C., that passed through Jersey City Saturday morning.

    Born in Jersey City, Mr. Mota lived in Lyndhurst since 1969. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens and the Mount Carmel Senior Citizens, both of Lyndhurst.

    Carmela Piserchia of North Arlington dies at age 76

    Mrs. Piserchia was born and raised in West New York, lived in Jersey City for 40 years, and had been a resident of North Arlington for the past 12 years. Mrs. Piserchia is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Gerardo Piserchia, by his loving children, Gerard Piserchia, and Maria Schlemm and her husband, the late Allan Schlemm, by her dear grandchildren, Jeremy, Leah and Mark, and her brothers Robert and John Inglese.

    Born in Jersey City, NJ on January 29, 1945, Marcella was the beloved daughter of John and Helen Monahan and sister of Dennis, all deceased. Marcella met and married Ray Fortune of New Milford NJ and became the "adopted" daughter of Rita and Willie Fortune, Ray's parents, who regarded her as the daughter they always wanted but never had.
