    Robert T. McSpedon, 81, Of Yonkers, Retired Operatin...

    McSpedon was born June 27, 1933, to William and Elizabeth McSpedon in Hastings-on-Hudson, where he was raised and graduated from Hastings High School and attended SUNY Farmingdale. He was an operating engineer for Local #137 in Westchester for over 40 years; retiring in 1995.

    Local Runners Score At Blue Ribbon Run

    Farmingdale runners Theresa Gannon, Chris Bartlett, Patty Baker and Jenine Cottone each came home with an award from the Blue Ribbon 10 kilometer and 5 kilometer runs for Prostate Cancer at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park. In the 10K, Gannon was the first finisher in the women's 25-29 age group, Bartlett took second place honors in the men's 40-44 age group, and Baker won the first place award in the women's 40-44 age group.

    Tis The Season For A Parade

    The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce brought cheer and good tidings to hundreds of local residents, on Nov. 22, at its annual Holiday Parade down Main Street. "The village's beautification committee began the day by decking Main Street with signs of the season," said Chamber President Beth Mignone.

    Long Island Umpires Join Over The Hill Gang Fundraising

    Nassau County ASA President Keith O'Donnell and Chief Umpire Vincent Donnelly recently presented a $2400 check to Over the Hill Gang President Jim Reilly. The donation will be added to the funds the men's softball league raised on behalf of Sal Pugliese Jr. as the young boy battles a rare hip disorder.

    Reviving The County Economy

    My office released a report which found many troubling demographic trends. The study found that the Nassau County population has remained stagnant since 2000 and will decline by 3 percent over the next 10 years, while the ages 60 and over population will be increasing from about 22 percent of the total population today to more than 27 percent.
