    Land conservation project will protect 410 acres

    The Buzzards Bay Coalition and the state Department of Conservation and Recreation have completed the Nasketucket Bay Land Conservation Project, preserving 410 acres of farmland, forests, beaches and coastal wetlands. The assemblage of the land parcels includes 135 acres in Fairhaven and 275 acres in Mattapoisett, making it “the largest land conservation project in Buzzards Bay and a very big deal,” said Mark Rasmussen, president of the coalition.

    Paul G. Riding of New Bedford, a veteran and telephone company switchman, died Thursday at New Bedford Health Care Center. He was 88. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II and later served aboard the repair ship USS Delta during the Korean War.

Ralph was also the proud great grandfather of 11 great-grandchildren.
