    Autopsy: Man shot Sunday died the next day

    A 34-year-old man shot in the head Sunday in the Winneconna Park neighborhood died the next day, according to information released Thursday by the Cook County medical examiner's office. Richard Johnson, 34, was pronounced dead at 9:09 a.m. on Monday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office, which first released information about Johnson's killing today.

    Pastors on Chicago's Southwest Side and southwest suburbs said they had a positive outlook after Pope Francis appointed Bishop Blase Cupich to replace Cardinal Francis George to lead the nation's third largest diocese. News began spreading Friday night that Cupich, 65, who has served as bishop of the Spokane, Wash., diocese for the past four years, would replace the ailing George, 77. A news conference was held Saturday to officially introduce Cupich, who was born and raised in Omaha, Neb.

    A Chicago man has died after he was stabbed by a man who he and several others tried to rob on Friday, officials said. Dimitre Beck, of the 7300 block of South Peoria Street, was pronounced dead at 2:46 a.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
