    A blood drive in memory of Cindy Pare's father, J.D. Wooten, will be held at the Blood Assurance donor center located at 705 East 4th Street in Chattanooga on Mr. Wooten passed away on March 9, 2014 after fighting acute myeloid leukemia for 29 months.

    Clinton Lee Gowell

    He was preceded in death by two sisters: Edna Stewart and Wilda Beckley, of Muskegon; and three brothers: Vernon Gowell, Merlin Gowell, and Harold Gowell, all of Muskegon. Gowell served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Cowpens, which was the first carrier into Tokyo Bay at the time of the Japanese surrender.

    Your View: A real way to show love

    On Saturday, we'll all have the opportunity to celebrate love and romance on Valentine's Day here in Central California. Although I'll be in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for a celebration of a different sort, many others may consider “celebrating” V-Day by attending the opening of the new movie “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Several years ago, when the novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" appeared, I did pick up a copy from a stack at a big-box store - they were literally flying off the shelves - and I did read it cover-to-cover.
