    Police log: Driver charged after wreck victim's death

    The driver who allegedly caused an accident near Duke University has been charged after a 52-year-old man died. Jacob Samuels, 18, of Chapel Hill was charged with running a red light and death by vehicle after a Monday wreck at the intersection of Erwin and Morreene roads.

    Mrs. Beatty leaves behind her son, Richard of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, her daughter-in-law, Susan, and grandchildren, George and Burke. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on Nov. 8, 1935, to Charles and Sunny Sharp, her family lived in Chicago and Dallas before settling in Hudson, Ohio, in the early 1940s.

    2nd Durham exec died in plane crash

    David Hartman, a vice president of Durham-based Nuventra, was among the six people whe died Monday in a plane crash in Montgomery County, Md. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of David and will miss him both personally and professionally," said Geoffrey Banks, CEO of Nuventra, in a release.
