    Miles convicted of first degree murder, to serve sec...

    CHAMBERSBURG >> Jeffrey Miles was convicted of first degree murder Thursday afternoon, after a Franklin County jury deliberated for about an hour. Miles will now spend the rest of his life incarcerated at a state correctional institution, for killing Angie Daley, 12 with a 2x4 board in August 1995.

    Phyllis L. Chewning

    Phyllis is survived by two brothers, Carlton B. Chewning Jr. and wife Frances of Orange, and Alvin W. Chewning of Spotsylvania County; four sisters, Loretta Williams of Chambersburg, Pa., Barbara Chewning and husband Sonny of Unionville, Gloria Pickering and husband Robert of Fredericksburg, and Anna Uridel of Stanley. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Chewning, and a sister, Clara Powell.

    Miss Marguerite McGregor, 85, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, in the care of Mountain Valley Hospice, following a brief battle with heart disease. Miss McGregor was born March 30, 1929, in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of the late Howard and Catherine McGregor.
