    Firefighter Kevin Bell mourned in Hartford

    With the sound of drums and bagpipes filling the air, and hundreds of firefighters from Connecticut and the country saluting, Engine 16 arrived at First Cathedral Church in Bloomfield for the funeral service for Firefighter Kevin Bell. "The loss of a firefighter in fire combat will never be forgotten," Fire Chief Carlos Huertas said during the funeral service.

    Family, Friends Remember Fallen Hartford Firefighter

    Oct. 13--At a candlelight vigil within a few hundred feet of Kevin Bell's home in Chappelle Gardens, the fallen Hartford firefighter was remembered Sunday night as a hero, a role model, a devoted husband and father, and a talented musician and D.J. known as "B-Stro." "The whole of the North End belongs to Kevin," said Michael Holmes, a lifelong friend.

    Procession leads fallen firefighter to cathedral

    The 48-year-old was killed while responding to a two-alarm fire on Blue Hills Avenue on Oct. 7. Firefighters Kevin Burk and Jason Martinez were injured fighting the blaze. Drivers were told to expect road closures in Bloomfield between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Blue Hills Avenue will be shut down between Wintonbury Avenue and Cottage Grove Road.
