2014 Dallas Stars Training Camp: Defenseman Julius Honka Turning Heads In Traverse City

The Dallas Stars prospects are 3-0 so far in the 2014 Traverse City Tournament and as the team prepares to face in the finals on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, one young player in particular is starting to stand out and gain some high praise. 18-year old defenseman Julius Honka, drafted out of the WHL by Dallas in 2014, has been a standout player for the Stars in Traverse City and has been instrumental in the team's unbeaten record so far in the tournament.

After what seems like the longest summer in quite some time for hockey in Texas, Dallas Stars training camp has finally arrived with excitement building around a young and skilled hockey team that now many expect to be true contenders in the Central Division. After the masterful addition of Tyler Seguin last summer, along with a new coaching staff and a renewed organizational philosophy under general manager Jim Nill, the Dallas Stars re-launch in 2013-14 was a rousing success -- culminating in the first postseason appearance for the team in six years.

Dallas Stars Training Camp 2014: Forward Brett Ritchie Has Broken Finger, Out Two Weeks

Dallas Stars prospect and right winger Brett Ritchie injured his pinkie finger on Saturday during the 2014 Traverse City Tournament, and now GM Jim Nill confirms the broken finger will keep the forward out for the next two weeks. Ritchie was a major piece of the Calder Cup Champions Texas Stars last season and was expected to possibly compete for an NHL spot out of camp as a goal-scoring right winger.
