Tampa Bay Bucs Should Help Falcons Get Back To Winning Ways

Buccaneers vs. Falcons: TV Info, Spread, Injury Updates, Game Time and More

The quick turnaround to play on Thursday Night Football is difficult on all teams but downright brutal for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons to start Week 3. Normally, a divisional clash would cause for some excitement on a Thursday night. On paper, this one had the look of a marquee showdown before the season - Matt Ryan and the Falcons were healthy and ready to make a run, while Lovie Smith would mold the Buccaneers into a contender in the division through strong defense and a balanced offense.

Look at what some people said about Glennon.. and compare that to what McCown is doing currently

Poor ball placement makes it difficult to catch the ball, obviously, but even when the ball is caught, it forces the receiver to move in directions counter to the way the play is called and is supposed to run, which greatly limits yards after catch. The poor pocket presence causes Glennon to throw too quickly rather than move up into the pocket and go to his check-downs.

Performing under pressure

Of course, there's the other kind of pressure that quite literally means they are being pressured snap after snap; the kind of pressure that is applied by J.J. Watt and other top defensive players in the league. So this week, we'll use statistics to see which quarterbacks had to deal with the most - literal - pressure in Week 1 and how they fared.

Smith Doesn't Rule Out McCoy Playing

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 0-2 on the season with a heartbreaking 17-16 loss at the hands of the St. Louis Rams on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium, but the much larger issue that the Bucs will be dealing with heading into Atlanta on Thursday night will be health. The Bucs already have been without the services of five week one starters including defensive ends Michael Johnson and Adrian Clayborn.

NFL GMs Must Look at Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey

On Sunday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced they will sit starting running back Doug Martin to prepare him for their game against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, leaving the backfield workload to none other than Bobby Rainey against the St. Louis Rams . Rainey amassed 174 total yards, 144 rushing and 30 receiving, against a Rams defense that completely shut down Adrian Peterson in Week 1. Rainey averaged six yards per carry in the contest, but I'm sure he would have traded his stats for a win.
