Such an observation made before they even put the pads on is a bit premature, but Felix Jones may very well be the homerun hitter they want to compliment Barber, Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick may be the future at CB, Bennett and Choice may provide the depth they are looking for at TE and RB, and Walden may sneak on to the practice squad. Marcus Dixon (3-4 DE) and Danny Amendola (WR) are longshots to make this roster, but it is not impossible, particularly for Amendola. Owens, Crayton, and Glenn (if healthy) are no brainers. Hurd and Austin are good special teamers, but Austin has "hands issues" and Hurd lacks speed. Stanback is an unproven wildcard, but I think Amendola can beat out Miles Austin unless Austin takes a big step as a true WR.
Dixon, on the other hand, has a tougher hill to climb. He is a prototypical 3-4 DE, but that position is stacked with Canty, Spears, Hatcher, and Bowen. Canty and Spears are the starters, but Hatcher and Bowen are proven contributors. Dixon will really have to stand out to beat Bowen. It is more likely that the Cowboys will try and get him on the P.S., but with some Preseason exposure, that may be a stretch. He was a highly touted rookie free agent catch. |
