Rams Get a Win, Dolphins Lose Again
“It feels great to finally get a victory, especially against a team that had won four in a row”
The St. Louis Rams found the winning touch at last. The Miami Dolphins? Not yet.
The NFL's two winless teams heading into Week 10 got opposite results Sunday. St. Louis ended its skid by winning at New Orleans 37-29. Miami led most of the way against Buffalo before folding, 13-10.
The Rams are 1-8 _ and finally smiling _ after not only a long-sought victory, but a decisive one. Marc Bulger had with 302 yards and short touchdown passes to Isaac Bruce and Drew Bennett. Steven Jackson, recovering from a back injury, rushed for a short touchdown and even threw a 2-yard halfback pass to Randy McMichael for a score. Read more

Shooter gets 15 years in Manhattan nightclub slaying
The son of a former New York Giants wide receiver who fired a gun into a crowd outside a nightclub, killing a woman and wounding two other people, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison.
Alexander Hall, 23, was sentenced on his July conviction for fatally shooting Tabitha Perez outside the Viva Lounge in upper Manhattan in 2005 because someone had asked him to stop smoking.
State Supreme Court Justice Ruth Pickholz said Hall 'committed an act for which there was no excuse.' The result, she said, was the destruction of two families, his own and the dead woman's. Read more

Defense feels it's fixing to become even better
“So it's going to help him and we feel confident that Tank will be able to help us some in our run front and maybe in the pass too. He's really quick. It looks like he's going to help us in both areas.”
IRVING -- Cowboys coach Wade Phillips could only chuckle.
Asked about nose tackle Tank Johnson's readiness for today's NFC East showdown against the New York Giants -- his first game of the season after being suspended eight games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy -- Phillips recalled Johnson's eagerness from practice Wednesday.
'He said, 'I'm ready to go, Coach.' I said, 'You better be, because you are going to be in there.''
Those were certainly words to soothe the soul of a man who is looking to get back to the game he loves and prove to the world that he has changed his ways. Read more
