Any dumb-butt that owns a pit-bull should be euthanized also.

Not for nuttin. but why do I always read about these severe attacks from pit bulls? Is the press bias or sumtin? Do you realize the pressure in their bite? And keep that Dachshund away...He might nip my ankle...ouch!

Most attacks by small dogs don't result in any real harm and are not reported... Smaller dogs simply don't have the jaws to crush bone.. Larger breeds have the strength and they can break bones easily this is why the Pit has such a terrible rep. A pit has a very strong jaw... They are a very loyal intelligent breed of dog that unfortunatley have been bred to fight and this breeding has really resulted in dogs that are very aggressive in some cases... I don't mean to sound like I am a know it all when it comes to pits but my son owned two of them who thought I was there grandma...:o) They were sweet dogs and they never showed aggression towards any one...

I don't mean to degrade you, but I've seen pictures of people who were attacked by "gentle" pit bulls...it aint pretty. If your family loves these dogs, all well and good, but beware, they can change in a moment, because of their breeding. Peace Out!

At yearend 2005, black males
(547,200) outnumbered white males
(459,700) and Hispanic males
(279,000) among inmates with a sentence
of more than 1 year (table 10).
About 40% of all male inmates sentenced
to more than 1 year were black.
Comparisons with previous estimates
of inmates by race and Hispanic origin
are constrained by new collection
methodologies. Following guidelines
provided by the Office of Management
and Budget, estimates in 2005 were
made separately for persons identifying
with one race (97%) and those
identifying with two or more races
(3%). Adoption of these guidelines
reduced the number and percent of
inmates identified as non-Hispanic
white and black.
An estimated 8% of black males,
age 25 to 29 in prison in 2005
When incarceration rates are estimated
separately by age group, black
males in their twenties and thirties are
found to have high rates relative to
other groups (table 11). Expressed in
terms of percentages, 8.1% of black
males age 25 to 29 were in prison on
December 31, 2005, compared to
2.6% of Hispanic males and about
1.1% of white males in the same age
group.
Although incarceration rates drop with
age, the percentage of black males
age 45 to 54 in prison at yearend 2005
was 3.1%— a rate higher than the
highest rate among Hispanic males
(2.6% for those age 25 to 29), and
more than twice the highest rate
among white males (1.2% for those
age 30 to 34).
Female incarceration rates, though
substantially lower than male incarceration
rates at every age, reveal similar
racial and ethnic differences. Black
females (with an incarceration rate of
156 per 100,000) were more than
twice as likely as Hispanic females (76
per 100,000) and over 3 times more
likely than white females (45 per
100,000) to have been in prison on
December 31, 2005. These differences
among white, black, and Hispanic
females were consistent across all age
groups.

I have seen passive, AND violent pit bulls. I have never seen any violent pit bulls become passive. However, I HAVE seen passive pit bulls become violent. Some dogs, no matter the breed, will become violent from their enviroment. Most just seem to be pit bulls. Those are the REAL statistics.

That's why pit's are illegal in Florida. Now of course if you think Florida is wrong and chouse to own one and way be ready for.
1.) Have him taken away (if not shot on the spot) and put to sleep.
2.) Lose $500.00
3.) Do 1 year in jail
4.) Have it count as a strike
We don't have problems with pit bites in Florida.

I do not disagree that a pit bull can be a very dangerous animal.. I posted the stats for comparison purposes... The American Pit Bull is a seriously dangerous dog and I never meant to state otherwise.. The two that my son owned were good dogs and like I said they were very sweet. Never showed aggression to anyone. Perhaps it was because they were not raised with violence... Pits know their own strength and do not like to be challenged physically. Unless its a game of tug of war... They are territorial pack oriented and protective. The very traits that make them wonderful pets can also be the traits that make them dangerous. Pit bulls that are socialized, trained properly and raised right rarely turn mean... I am not saying it doesn't happen... I am saying that when it does it is usually the result of bad breeding and bad training. My little Chihuahua is much more aggressive than either of My sons Pits were...
