Omaha man uses steak knife to perform self-tracheotomy

Wow, that is amazing. I hope I could be as level headed if I were in a situation like that.

The man had quite remarkable presence of mind as well as improvised dexterity. Some years ago I read of a doctor using a coat-hanger to perform an emergency operation on an airline passenger.

in Nam we used pen barrels

How scary, to think he had the wherewithall to stay calm to perform the operation, but to endure the self inflicted pain, all the while he is suffocating. Freaky indeed

it is more on the scary side as it is pain side because there are very few nerves in that area

True, I am a wimp when it comes to certain types of pain, cuts scrapes etc.

Backpain & Jointpain, that is different, I live with that daily. ;)

Haven't been on much. Saw a field trach done with a 4" piece of outer insulation stripped from an outdoor extension cord once too.
