'Golden Girls' Actress Estelle Getty Dies at 84

I loved her, she was sucha pleasant actress to watch.

I wish they also noted her role in the movie "Mannequin."
She was so adorable in that movie. I loved her as Sophia on Golden Girls. I can hear Bea Arthur screaming now..."Ma!"

I loved watching her!! I would watch the Golden Girls as a little girl every Saturday, followed by Empty Nest! May she rest in peace.

She was a spunky little lady that always makes me laugh. My sympathy goes out to her family and to the world. She was loved by everyone who knew her. I am very sad she passed on but feel she is no longer in pain.

The article didn't mention the movie "Mannequin." I watched it just last week; she was the store manager.

I do hope to hear more information on the news this evening about her passing. She will be well missed.

She was a wonderfully funny actress who made the show. RIP Estelle, you have left us an unending gift of laughter.

She was a joy,remember when she met a man friend in the park that turned out to have alzheimers.Her wit usually had depth and meaning.

I fall asleep to her and the gang every night. She will be greatly missed.

My mom and I just loved to watch the Golden Girls and in particular Sophia......she was just a natural for that part....
no one could have done it better.....she owned that part.
She sadly will be missed, she gave us hours of laughter...

I fall asleep watching the golden girls every night. I own all of the
golden girls season DVD's and I watch
them over and over...never get bored

Although physically Mrs Getty(Sophia)
is gone...she is mentally still with me...she wil be truly missed. Well done Mrs. Getty...Your job was well done.

She will be missed and more than anything, we will miss your spunkyness as the very witty mother Sophia Patrillo on the Golden Girls.

As I wipe the tears from my eyes I'm still trying to figure out how to say goodbye... after watching the Girls since the 80's and owning all the DVD's... I use to watch them every evening at dinner time on Lifetime... and then Lifetime changed the schedule so ever since then I watch one of the dvd's each evening at dinner time 7 days/week... also sometimes at bedtime and even more on the weekends.

I have most of the dvd's memorized yet I still can't seem to get enough... I'm sure that will sound weird to some people but I just don't know how to explain it.

We've all known Estelle has been in bad health for many years now... but at the same time I just could not let go of the hope that some day she would get better and that maybe one day my dream would come true that all 4 Golden Girls who I love equally would be able to do one last reunion show for us.

For many years now I've been dreading the day that we would lose one of our Golden Girls... and now that it has happened I have to say that I still didn't think the pain would hurt this much...

---pausing to dry my eyes, I can hardly see the keyboard---

the pain I feel in my chest is almost unbearable and I've never felt this hurt or cried this hard for someone I've never met in person and didn't even know personally...
and what's worse is that we're going to have to go thru this pain 3 more times when God takes away the last 3 Golden Girls from us.

I never had a chance to thank Estelle for all the laughs and to say
I Love You...

But I'm taking this opportunity to tell the other 3...

Thank You all for the many years of laughter... you've made life much more enjoyable!

I have just adored "Sophia", Estel. I have all the golden Girls somplete series. She lead a great full life and she will be missed.

I share many memories with "Sophia" and my grandmother who passed many years ago. I will always remember my grandmothers laugh when we sat and watched the golden girls!! Rest in Peace Estelle your voice will be treasured in my heart along with my grandmother Betty's laughter!
