Thomas Elias: Voters should make California bluer

Full story: Pasadena Star-News

EVEN though no Republican candidate for president or the U.S. Senate has carried California since 1988, it's still not entirely impossible for a Republican to be elected governor next year.

This is the opinion of someone who live in Santa Monica, what more needs to be said. The only town that is more liberal and Democrat would be San Francisco. Don't expect an honest opinion or unbiased article from anyone associated with the Santa Monica crowd.

Unfortunately, he's probably right...

So far, it appears that most of the voters out there, can't see the forest for the trees. All those social programs cost money, money that many new American's don't have. So, its all about "entitlements". Getting something for nothing. Robbing Peter to pay Paul...

It results in a lower standard of living for those that actually managed to make or save a little money. California has gotten way out of hand and taken "Liberalism" to a new extreme. California's economy won't hold up to this much longer. We've already got a $20-billion dollar budget deficit.

Nothing like more Liberal's in government to drive us deeper into debt...

Very accurate posting. Also soon to Elias delight we can have gay marriage, drivers license for illegals, bigger food stamp program, more government housing and Spanish as the official state language.

I think it is time to turn California back over to Mexico. Let it become a third world country, since that is what the voters want.
Then we would have someone looking out for our borders.

They aren't registering those people to sway any simple minded party particular agenda. They just want to say look what we've done for immigration.
Even you people that get tricked into calling each other names like liberal, Republican, democrat or tree hugger should realize by now votes don't count unless you've a big money lobbyist(or a large group of protestors who mostly turned out not to be registered) behind the bill/plan/ammendment.
One of the first things one learns of war and combat is to; Divide and conquer.
You people are so busy pushing your party particulars you can't even see the reality behind the magic show you think you're voting on. They've divided us into these simplistic bickering groups that spend all their energy demeaning other groups when it's all part of thier plan.
We get so caught up in all these individual things we neglect to look at the real cause; corruption in government.
Stop thinking putting someone else down is going to change things, you are only feeding the monster.
Start thinking of compramise and how we all can be happy as a whole not a bunch of separated groups throwing pebbles at each other.

How the hell can California get any bluer? And look where it has gotten us.
Get Acorn to sign up all the illegals to vote so that they can have more of everything we have worked so hard to acheive. Watch them get more benefits for being illegal. Watch the crime go up and the cities go down. Watch California become a third world country at our expense.
There is no way any country, no matter how rich, can keep supporting the vast number of illegals pouring in daily. They are taking us down and laughing at us all the time they do it.
Build the fence, secure the border and enforce our laws. Keep this the USA. Stand up now before it is too late.

What do you mean let it become a third world country? A lot of places in California ALREADY have third world conditions as the norm.

Just wait until the 8% payroll tax hits any business in the U.S. with a payroll above $500,000. That's going to drive a lot of guys out of business.

I say we move Hollywood, the only good thing about California, to Las Vegas. Then build a wall along the inside border and sell California to mexico for $1.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Scorpio

It will be easy to let things get on top of you today, especially if you're already feeling rather tired and listless. Do yourself a favor and keep away from anyone who often makes you feel a bit fed up or defensive, because they're the last person you want to be around at the moment. They'll make your spirits sink down to your ankles in a flash, and who needs that?
