Climate history forces action

Full story: Reuters

A 190-nation U.N. conference in Copenhagen in December is due to agree a new U.N. pact to curb greenhouse gas emissions to slow a rise in temperatures to prevent floods, droughts, wildfires or rising sea levels.
Curbing GHGs will prevent floods, droughts, wildfires or rising sea levels?

Haven't they heard, floods, droughts, wildfires and rising sea levels have been happening since time immemorial, long before GHGs were ever thought of.
Floods:
Excavations in Mesopotamia have led archaeologists and other scientists to conclude that a number of serious floods occurred there between 4000 and 2000 BC. It is possible that one of these floods was so destructive that it made a lasting impression on the population and became a subject for the ancient literature of the period.

Droughts:
Studies of tree rings in the United States
have identified droughts occurring as early as 1220.

Wildfires:
Scientists can't link a single wildfire (or any natural disaster) to global warming.

Only people like Fat Al can link natural disasters to AGW.
Rising sea level:
I'd say that topic has been covered well enough on this forum.
Doomsayers still believe it's caused by Co2/AGW and is worsening, only sensible people realise that it's a natural phenomenon and that it varies.

Great article! We know this has been a hot scientific topic for decades, but I had no idea that Johnson sounded a warning on global warming in 1965, nor that Thatcher did the same in 1988.

Good old Northie, ignore any evidence that proves floods, droughts, wildfires and rising sea levels have been around forever, just continue along your path of ignorance and religious belief in a forthcoming catastrophe.

I don't believe in a forthcoming catastrophe. I believe even the most backwardly ignorant will soon accept the need to stop destroying the climate.

"Climate cooking" isn't a catastophe?

The, "backwardly ignorant" already believe the climate is being destroyed.

To extend the boiled frog analogy, merely turning on the heat is not catastrophic to the frog. Leaving the heat on is.

Can't you even admit the obvious, that floods, droughts, wildfires and rising sea levels have been around forever?

Your frog will die of old age, long before glowbull whining heat kills it.
