Because She Needed It

Full story: www.boxturtlebulletin.com

When Peter Vidala told a co-worker that “her lifestyle is deviant”, it was because she needed to be told. She needed to hear that Vidala was intolerant of her. “I see, like all real Christians, homosexuals as people who, like me, are sinners and need to be told the truth in a loving way,” he said. “In this situation, I took issue with the behavior. I think it’s lunacy to call that type of behavior marriage in any kind of form. I had to express that I’m intolerant of that behavior. It’s a love-the-sinner, hate-the-sin kind of deal.” Just like the wife who argues back and need a good punch in the face, or the infant who won’t stop crying and needs to be shaken, this lesbian needed to know that he hated her sin. Brookstone, the employer, decided that Vidala’s weeks-old employment needed to come to an end. And, naturally, Fox News and other conservative voices are shocked! that he was “unjustly fired”.

"The manager came in from one of our other locations. She said she was getting married and I said congratulations! Where is he taking you for a honeymoon?"

That pretty much says it all. He WANTED to hear about it when he thought it was a straight marriage, he even asked. How dare she respond!! How dare she make him uncomfortable by living her life!

Why do many Christians (notice that I did not say all. There are many decent and tolerant Christians in the world whom I do not intend to offend) feel that they need to force their views on others. If they are so secure in their beliefs, why do they need to use force? Are they worried that they are not really following God's will? Do they feel deep inside that they are wrong, and feel that they need to use their earthly power (with Satan's assistance) to alter the law to discriminate and deny justice to others who do not mirror their flawed beliefs, and in fact, may recognize a higher Truth than they do? I personally believe that people like Peter Vidala are cruel and evil. I believe they are guilty of blasphemy of a kind, and are hiding behind their "religion"(I believe that they really have none. If they really believed in God, they could never do what they do for fear of damnation), and use it as an excuse to do evil things. What is most terrible about them is that they turn people away from God, and cause hatred of believers. Don't fall for this trap! Continue to believe in God. The true definiton of a "church" is the group of all believers. If you believe in God, you are a member of the true "church", "mosque", or "synagogue." Don't let the radicals and real infidels in all of these hate groups impersonating real religious groups disillusion or deceive you. They are of the devil and not God. Fall in love! Get married! God is with you, and loves you. He even loves the infidels as well. Pray for them to find the truth and peace within and without.

Affronting a coworker with your bigotry is always wrong. What if he said: "I just don't believe in that Muslim stuff?" "I think Joseph Smith corrupted the word of the very God you profess to worship." "You know, this mixed-marriage stuff makes me very uncomfortable." "There is only one true God, therefore Hindus are devil worshipers."

You see, you're required to get along with everyone. Being Christian does not endow you with special privileges to denigrate others.

Furthermore, Jesus would have advised Vidala to keep his own counsel. By the time a lesbian has made the decision to marry another woman, she is hardly likely to be swayed against that decision by some Christian propaganda. That's one of the things that always amazes me about you people: You seem to think that if you just explain it the way you understand it, everyone will say "Aha, how could I have been so wrong!"

Guess what: We've received these messages all our lives. We know the proper place for your religious ideas in our personal lives. Now get over yourselves and let everyone get on with their lives.

Of course, Vidala was out-of-line. But if I were in charge, he would have gotten a warning, a letter to his file if any such intolerance was again demonstrated, and finally fired. IF he's telling the whole story--and I have every reason to doubt that--then he should not have been fired on a first offense.

You could be right about all that. But then again, in this particular case, he could just be young and stupid.

If he were a values employee I would tend to agree with you, but he was new to the job and on a probationary period probably. I would imagine that his manager was also pretty pissed about his new employee making a bad impression on a visiting manager too.

Six-plus minutes of rambling, stammering, stuttering, and dancing.

When people talk about their respective husbands, wives, and fiances, they're not talking about their sexual escapades. What he fails to acknowledge is that his opinion is a direct objection to what she does in the bedroom, and that's harassment.

Dance little man, dance. Most entertaining.

That's rich. Gays are the first ones to endorse forced gay tolerance seminars in the workplace and to crow with joy whenever a Christian who refuses to attend one of these propaganda programs looses his or her job. Yet when it comes to Christians expressing their beliefs, the ruby red shoe is on the other foot. I get it...gays should have freedom of speech...and Christians shouldn't.

Vidala was creating a hostile workplace environment. He deserved to be fired for that.

So to please all the little tin deity christians, we have to stay silent and not live our lives. I don't think so, their version of god in a box does not rule my life or beliefs.

I think he needs a nightmare where its against god's rules to be straight and living in a gay world.

OMG! Too funny!!! First off, the guy is totally incompetent. If you're seriously dumb enough to call a manager "bad stuff" then you should be fired regardless of what you think that "bad stuff" is. Furthermore, he's saying to bring this issue up in such a conservative part of the country (AS IF he can't figure out MA is only one of six states that allow gay marriage - they couldn't be less "conservative" if they tried).

I'm sorry but, IMO, the guy should've been fired for being a complete idiot. NO ONE, with half a brain, is going to confront a supervisor, ie manager, and tell them they think they're "bad stuff". How f'n stupid can this guy be?

Besides, does anyone else smell "closet case" coming from this guy. I haven't seen such a preppy fag in a long, long time.

btw, a lot of companies have 'sexual orientation' in their policies and this would be a clear case, IMO, of sexual harassment. It's like going up to a black person and telling them their skin color is "bad stuff".

I realize that according to the standards of a gay person, rejoicing in someone being deprived of their livelihood is not being nasty.
