Gay Panic Defense May Lead To No Substantial Jail Time In DC Beating Death

The "gay panic defense' should be outlawed in all jurisdictions.

UNBELIEVABLE - I hope this kid ends up getting EXACTLY what he deserves, one way or another.

That's almost as absurd as Dan White's Twinkie Defense.

This reminds one of the "twinky" defense. I sometimes think that lawyers are a menace in soceity. Certainly, if this prevails, it is not justice.

were all four guys "groped"? it's no “gay panic defense” if they form a gang and beat up a guy, it wasn't the defense's error it was the judge's for accepting it..

I bet they are aquited, this has been happening lately in many trials involving gay victims. The Christian right has succeeded in dehumanizing us.

I can see now every homophobic black guy is going to think he can get away with murdering a gay man with no jail time because of the gay panic defense and BECAUSE he is BLACK (since he's a PROTECTED minority and therefore can get away with anything). Black men hate gay men. It's a fact.

I will protect my life from being taken by a homophobe by any means necessary to protect myself. I don't care if I go to jail for protecting myself. At least I'll be alive. I'm certain because of this ruling hate crimes will rise.

By the way, where is the proof that that gay man groped him. I think it was all a lie. I think it is cold blooded murder based on pure evil and hatred.

Damn it! I feel less free to be gay in LA now that I'm in my 40's than I did growing up in the South.

More over, gays have became so apathetic and lack any kind of direction, purpose or leadership.

I myself deplore violence against anyone....

but this should give you more of an incentive to remain in the closet

Why do black people get special rights?(And why do religious people get special rights?) I thought races and everyone else were supposed to be equal. I believe in equal rights for everyone not special rights.

I will never live in the closet. You go back in your closet with your ignorance. Black men are hateful homophobes! I would die before I would stay in the closet just to suit their bigoted wants. I'm not going to live my life in fear. There are things out there to use to protect myself.

Listen dude. It's not our problem that the black community can't cure their victim addiction. Sorry they they can't accept that there are other oppressed minorities besides themselves. Most blacks do not face discrimination today anyhow. Many of them didn't even live through it. I'm assuming you are American-African (no I didn't misspell that).

I don't advertise being a homosexual but I don't hide behind a corner about it either. I should be able to go to gay bars without worrying about some group of homophobes or homophobic blacks dudes jumping and killing me simply because I am gay.
