UC Riverside guard Phil Martin was named the Big West player of the week for games played January 9-15. It is the second consecutive honor for the Staten Island, NY native who joins Kyle Austin as the only member of the Highlanders to be so honored on three different occasions.

Phil Martin scored 13 points, including four big free throws in the final minute, and UC Riverside continued its best-ever Big West Conference start with a 60-53 win Saturday over Cal Poly.
