Blount apologizes for punch in student paper

It is all well and good to be apologetic for your actions but it does not justify the fact that you resorted to a violent act because you were mad. I think Oregon was sore because they lost to Boise State both at home and here on the blue and it was perhaps embarrassing to be beat by a school twice in a row from a lower conference. But hitting someone - that is jail time for most people. And to do it on national television - WOW. You put your future football career on the line by using poor judgement and getting suspended was better than you having to go to jail because I think it hit more where it hurt. I do not like to see violence in sports. I enjoy competitiveness and like to see good sportsmanship. I do not think that ANY team regardless of who there are should BOO another team when they come out on the field - I think they should clap for them to make them feel welcome. Our band plays the other teams FIGHT SONG just prior to gametime and I think that is a welcoming gesture. What you did was unacceptable and I am glad to see that it was not tolerated. I love football but do not feel there is any place in football for violent behavior whether it be from us or any other team. I hope this was a lesson to you.

Having said that...LaGarret Blount had already apologyzed once, there was no need to apologyze again for something that HE was provoked to do...that punk from Boise State should have been the one to get suspended, NOT Blount.
