As college basketball turns into the home stretch, many of the sport's most celebrated rivalries are gearing up for their second rounds of 2011-12. If some of these rematches are anything like their original versions, college hoops fans are in for a treat.

The University of Kansas women's cross country squad earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2011 season, it was announced Monday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association .

That's 273 as in number of games these two rivals have played. They've been playing this series continuously since 1907, just three years after the Wright Brothers first took flight.

I personally hate these kinds of games. Games with a lot of contact that doesn't get called are great because I think basketball is supposed to be a physical sport, but the last thing I want to see is a free throw contest with some basketball being played in the intermissions.
